The Metal Gear Solid series were always popular with gamers from around the globe. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is no less and it is the perfect ending to a brilliant story and hero. The way the game was developed is incredible and apart from intense and great gameplay, MGS4 gives you a cinematic experience that you will never forget. The game is flawless having stunning graphics and sound which complement an epic story. It really pushes you to the limits of game entertainment.

You will spend half the time watching cinematic cutscenes which have rich effects and blend equally with the gameplay. The gameplay graphics are the same as the prerendered cutscenes and the level of detail is so impressive that it gives you an outstanding experience. It is almost a blockbuster movie because the way the story folds with accurate and perfect voice acting, it makes you keep playing the game. At the same time, you don’t want it to finish.

A cinematic experience.

For this last chapter in the Metal Gear Solid series, you take the responsibility of the legendary soldier. Solid Snake. Snake is now fighting against a strange disease, fast aging. So you must now cope with various factors such as stress level and stiff joints. Apart from the usual health bar, you must now pay attention to the stress and psyche bar because the more this is depleted, the less you are accurate and quick to react. These are small details which make the game unique. Progressing through the game, you will soon point out other small details which are impressive, like the way the smoke rises to the sky and the way Snake goes down or up the stairs.

From the gameplay point of view, you have to balance between shooting your way through a battlefield and sneaking around without anyone noticing, depending on the situation. The stealth tactic is still the favorite of them all tactics because going around undetectable and then killing (or putting to sleep) an enemy soldier without causing havoc is the ultimate experience. And who else can do better than Hideo Kojima for stealth action games? No one. To help you stay unseen, Mr.Kojima has created what is called an OctoCamo suit, which blends and changes its textures to the environment around especially when Snake is pressed against a wall or the ground. Hiding mechanics have been improved which include crawling, hanging and peeking around corners. CQC (close quarter combats) techniques were also redefined.

The OctoCamo's texture blends with the environment.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has so much details that it is impossible to mention them all. The level of visuals and also sound is impressive. The soundtracks of the MGS series were always one of the best around. In fact when someone listens to a MGS soundtrack, he thinks that it is coming from a movie. The game has got it all, stealth, non-stop action, a motorcycle chase and complex boss battles which need some thinking before starting to act. Even if the story is a bit difficult to understand, you still watch the long and stunning cinematic cutscenes because they are too impressive to skip. The story has a feeling. It has a message to give. You must experience this state of the art game.

Even though for a lot of people the end of the Metal Gear Solid series is a big disappointment, this last game is truly the perfect ending for a story and a hero. And there’s more once you complete the game. You can connect to Metal Gear Online and start shooting or killing stealthily against your friends or other online players. The game has got it all. That’s why it has a perfect score. You just have to buy this game if you own a PS3 and experience an immense legend folding in front of you. Solid Snake deserves a heroic ending and you must see it. Masterpiece.
